There are three reasons that people called Conrad Hilton as a Hotel king.

According to Wikipedia, Conrad Hilton owns about 250 hotels. At the time of Great Depression of USA, many hotels were bankrupted, but he had bought all this hotels which resulted in his success.

Second, Hilton was the first one who listed stocks in Hotel Industry. Consequently, He improved transparency in his hotels, which enhanced the value of hotel. Hilton hotel won its renown and was far-famed more than before. Other hotels who saw this also listed stocks to increase their value. As a result, hotel industry which is unknown to many people was no longer their own field, and this has improved their reputation. 

Lastly, Hilton improved the hotel service than before. At the time Hilton just started his hotel business, the accommodation time and price were all different. Hilton made the rules for the first time accommodation in time and price. Also, he trained his employees changes sheets and pillows every time and decorated the lobby with show windows to improve bad images of hotel such as cheap, dirty or low—quality services

In conclusion, the reason why he is called as a hotel king is that he had his own philosophy. Hilton could become Hotel King as he had two main philosophies which are ‘Success is associated with action’ and ‘Opportunities are found in times of crisis.’
